The townhouses of the East 60s and 70s have libraries, dining rooms and stair halls built to impress. African hardwoods bring depth and rarity to those rooms. Our Listone range includes five African species beyond wenge and padouk: Doussie, Iroko, Afrormosia, Zebrano and Ovangkol. Each is solid wood, 20 millimeters thick, supplied unfinished or prefinished in UV oil or natural oil.
African Doussie

African Doussie (Afzelia pachyloba) is offered in a Superior selection, in straight widths from 141 to 201 millimeters with random lengths from 500 to 2000 millimeters or more. Its herringbone is 90 millimeters wide in Italian, French and Hungarian lengths of 700, 620 and 660 millimeters. Doussie’s warm tone suits a formal dining room with dark millwork. It is also offered as a herringbone collection.
African Iroko

African Iroko (Chlorophora excelsa) comes in a Superior selection, with straight widths of 141 to 186 millimeters and random lengths from 500 to 2000 millimeters or more, plus a 90 millimeter herringbone. Iroko is often compared to teak for its golden-brown color, which makes it a good choice for a townhouse kitchen or a garden-level family room. It is also available in a smoked version, Iroko London Smoke, for a deeper tone.
African Afrormosia

African Afrormosia (Pericopsis elata) is offered in a Superior selection, in straight widths from 91 to 186 millimeters and random lengths from 500 to 2000 millimeters or more, with a 90 millimeter herringbone. Its fine, even grain gives a refined look for a library or study. Narrower widths suit the proportions of an older townhouse, where rooms are tall but not always wide. Compare it with the European species on our Listone page.

African Zebrano

African Zebrano (Microberlinia brazzavillensis) comes in a Superior grade, in straight widths from 91 to 181 millimeters with random lengths from 300 to 2000 millimeters or more, and a 90 millimeter herringbone. Its bold striping makes it a statement floor, best used in one room, such as a dressing room or a private study, rather than throughout a townhouse. Pair it with a quieter species elsewhere.
African Rosewood Ovangkol

African Rosewood Ovangkol (Guibourtia arnoldiana ehie) is offered in a Superior selection, in straight widths from 111 to 186 millimeters and random lengths from 500 to 2000 millimeters or more, plus a 90 millimeter herringbone. Its rich, figured grain suits a parlor floor where the room is meant to impress. All five species can be finished with our natural oils, and samples are laid on the floor before a final choice. See our herringbone collection for patterned options.
