Understanding Wood Flooring Trends & Their Impact on Specification
Wood flooring trends affect much more than the appearance of a finished space. Changes in plank dimensions, construction, species, character, finish and manufacturing can also influence product availability, installation and long-term performance.
This course assists architects, construction professionals and interior designers in understanding wood flooring trends and how these trends impact the specification process of real wood flooring for client projects.
Participants will examine the movement toward engineered flooring, wide plank formats, factory finishing, character-rich grades, parquet patterns, natural finishes and other trends shaping contemporary wood flooring design.
What You Will Learn
- Explain the benefits of real wood versus wood look-alike products.
- Discuss preferences for domestic versus imported wood species.
- Examine the shift from solid to engineered wood flooring.
- Discuss the move from unfinished to factory-finished wood floors.
- Explore the transition from strip flooring to plank and wide-plank formats.
