A trowel doesn’t just spread adhesive—as it’s used, it dispenses exactly the correct amount of adhesive onto the floor in the correct profile that is best for that specific adhesive or subfloor prep product. That’s why it’s critical that the recommended trowel with the correct notch always be used for each product. That’s also why trowels must be replaced when they get worn.
