End Grain

If you want an end grain floor that makes a statement, start at the cross-section.

End grain wood flooring is cut against the grain — exposing the intricate rings and cellular structure of the tree. No two blocks are alike. It’s a floor that tells a story of time, age, and craftsmanship.

Our end grain collections are sourced from master mills around the world. Each floor is made to order—tailored in block size, pattern, color, texture, and finish to suit your design direction.

The finishing process is done by hand, then air-dried to preserve depth and tone—offering the richness of a site-finished floor with the precision of a prefinished product.

Prices typically range from $25 to $45 per square foot, depending on specifications.

Trade and builder pricing available upon request.

Milled Face

Matte Low VOC Waterbase Poly

Our Reclaimed materials are finished with either a low VOC water-based polyurethane in – Natural Matte – or an all natural VOC free flax-based oil.

SURFACE / FACE TREATMENTS

Our Reclaimed floors are milled in 3 distinct surfaces:

  • ORIGINAL FACE The full patina of the original reclaimed wood including original saw marks, and oxidized metal stains remains on this face. Each plank in this surface is brushed and lightly sanded to clean them up and make them suitable for either flooring or walls. This is the must rustic & raw look in our reclaimed materials.
  • HIT OR MISS FACE Some areas of the board are sanded smooth while others are left with an original face, this technique is sometimes referred to as “skip-planing”. Ths is the middle ground between the rusticity of Original Face and the refinement of Milled Face.
  • MILLED FACE Most every board in a Milled Face reclaimed is sanded smooth, leaving only traces of the original face and inherent saw marks. Milled Face materials can also come from the center of larger reclaimed timbers such as large beams and joists, etc. This is the cleanest and most elegant look in our reclaimed materials.

SOLID WOOD

  • Standard thickness is 3/4″
    Custom thickness upon request
  • Standard plank widths range from 3″ – 12″ wide
    Wider boards available upon request
  • Standard plank lengths are 2′ – 10′ random lengths
Longer lengths & length groupings available upon request

ENGINEERED WOOD

  • Standard Thickness 3/4″
    custom thickness upon request
  • Standard plank widths range from 3″ – 12″ wide
    Wider boards available upon request
  • Standard plank lengths are 2′ – 10′ random lengths
Longer lengths & length groupings available upon request
  • 5/8″ thick engineered material has a 4 mm hardwood top layer
  • 3/4″ thick engineered material is available with either a 4mm or 6mm hardwood top layer

Plank & pattern OPTIONS

  • Single-width planks
  • Mixed-width planks
  • Chevron
  • Herringbone
  • Parquetry patterns
  • Custom patterns/designs

Installation methods vary depending on wood format and site conditions, but here are some general guidelines:

  • Solid wood is typically nailed, or nailed and glued, to a plywood subfloor.
  • Engineered wood is typically glued down to concrete or plywood subfloors, with or without an underlayment such a sound abating mat or a moisture barrier, depending on site conditions/requirements.
  • Engineered floors are also usually the best choice for gluing down over radiant heat installations.
  • In either format, when planks are particularly wide, gluing and nailing is always good practice if possible.

The democratic alternative!

Flatgrain is what we usually see in modern flooring, it is the easiest way of cutting wood, perpendicular to the three’s growth lines. Opus Simple line is thereby leveraging on the success of the Opus collection by proposing the same uncompromised quality, just more democratically priced due to the type of cut.
